I Would Have Done It For Free
By: admin

posted: Mon Sep. 25, 2006: 4.43pm

I was Googling my domain (as I am wont to do from time to time) and I came across this page.

In it the person looking to hire someone directly references my code as something he wants installed on his site but he doesn't bother to contact me. All he had to do was spend 5 seconds emailing me or using my contact form and he would have had done with in a few days...by the person that wrote the script.

I hope the extra time and money was worth it.

Security Image Generator Update
By: admin

posted: Mon Sep. 04, 2006: 7.05pm
updated Wed Nov. 15, 2006: 11.43am

I updated my Security Image Generator yesterday. No functionality changes were made, but the code was completely restructured to use OOP. Also, some minor bugs were fixed.

If anyone actually uses my code, you will need to do some rewriting but, as usual, there is some sample code.

Enjoy.

The Best SciFi Book Series Ever
By: admin

posted: Mon Aug. 14, 2006: 9.28am

It looks like the Rama Series of books is being made into movies (the first book at least). If it wasn't for the fact that I think they will either not all be made or they will be butchered, I'd be ecstatic right now. Unfortunately, the movies for last couple of books would have to be 4 hours long to even begin to cover the breadth of the stories.

If you haven't read them (four in all), you should. No other books have been able to suck me in the way those have.

Spammers Again
By: admin

posted: Thu Aug. 03, 2006: 8.27am
updated Thu Sep. 14, 2006: 8.13pm

I'm not sure why spammers feel the need to attack my low rent site but they do. A couple of people have been trying to generate accounts on my site in order to create link spam but I'll have none of that.

As I had to do earlier this year to my suggestions page, I am now forced to add captcha to my registraion page.

Just more evidence for my theory that people suck.

My Apologies to the Blind
By: admin

posted: Tue Feb. 28, 2006: 10.56am
updated Thu Aug. 03, 2006: 8.10am

Due to recent attempts by spammers to use my suggestions page to send spam, I have decided to use my Security Image Generator to attempt to stop the automated attacks. If you are logged in, you will not have to worry about the image (though this may change). As I say on the page, if you can't read it refresh the page and try a new image and if it looks like a number it probably is.

Also, to my blind friends, there is no audio alternative. Somehow I don't think it will matter.

I Swear This Isn't a Javascript Site
By: admin

posted: Wed Nov. 30, 2005: 10.09am
updated Fri Jan. 13, 2006: 1.35pm

It may look like it, but I assure you that this has not turned into a site devoted to Javascript. I'm just going through a period of fascination with the scripting language. It's easy to code in and people can try out my work right in their browser. With that said, I will introduce my latest creation: Mines.

It is just another javascript Minesweeper clone but I think it's done better than most out there. It is really just a port of my Visual Basic Minesweeper clone but it is much better written (the VB version makes me cry when I look at the code). It works best if you allow context menus to be disabled (in Firefox 1.5: Preferences > Content > Check "Enable Javascript" > Advanced > Check "Disable or Replace Context Menus").

I am also working on a multiplayer version that will allow you play someone over the Internet but that might not be ready for a while.

Ain't AJAX Fun?
By: admin

posted: Mon Oct. 24, 2005: 9.05am
updated Thu Sep. 14, 2006: 8.13pm

I decided that my type anywhere project needed a little something else so I decided to make it so everyone could see what everyone else was typing. Thus I created "Message Wall." If you go to this page, you can either watch what people are typing or add stuff your self. The bold, italics, and the font tags are supported and the max string length you can enter is <s>50</s> 75 characters. Have fun and try not to type anything too nasty.

It works in Firefox, Opera, IE, and Konqueror, by the way.

Update: Now, if you register and login, it will put your username along with your comments.

It's been awhile
By: admin

posted: Mon Sep. 26, 2005: 8.22pm
updated Mon Sep. 26, 2005: 9.19pm

I thought that since it's been awhile since I've posted, I would post some little javascript things I've been working on. They are all just little bits of code I wanted to see if I could write.

My drop down box. I decided to make my own drop down box using CSS and JS.

Drag some boxes. Move two boxes around the screen. You can put either box on top of the other.

Add text anywhere. Click somewhere, type, press enter. Repeat.

P.S. - Oh yeah, and I got married.
